A meeting took place between Beibut Atamkulov, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan, Randa Kassis, President of the Astana Platform, and Fabien Baussart, President of the CPFA, in the presence of Deputy Minister Roman Vassilenko and Aidarbek Tumatov, Director for the Middle East.
The discussions were friendly and constructive, focusing on the Syrian crisis and the importance of achieving a negotiated peace that respects plurality.
Fabien Baussart highlighted the crucial and historic role played by President Nursultan Nazarbayev in advancing nuclear non-proliferation since the 1990s.
Randa Kassis expressed her gratitude to President Nazarbayev and the Republic of Kazakhstan for agreeing to initiate political talks in 2015, following her appeal, and for hosting negotiations at the end of 2016. She emphasised that Kazakhstan’s contribution to peace has been paramount.
